Yet Another Zombie Defense HD

Fight for your life in this tower defense, zombie infestation that in which you and up to 3 others can build your defenses during the day and fight the horde at night.

General Gameplay

In Yet Another Zombie Defense HD (or YAZDHD as we are going to call it in this review 😊) you play as a survivor as you have to face waves of zombies at night and during the day you have to build your camp with barriers, upgrade your weapons and be ready to face the night, also the game supports 4 player- online or couch co-op.  The Game Visuals are very detailed, as the game is an HD version, the graphics are very sharp and clean to see on the screen.  The game is in 4K on the Xbox One and the graphics show well in 4K.  YAZD HD color scope is in more darker tones and that they are meant to showcase more of a darker, gloom in the game settings.  There is no issues seeing the colors, so for gamers in your gaming family that have a colorblind issue they should be able to play the game fine without any issues.  In our playthrough we did not see any issues with the graphics other than the gore and violence that comes with a game like this.  As the game carries a M rating, this type of violence is normal for a game like this and honestly, we felt that the rating should have not been what it is (more on this in our Family Friendly section) The game Audio is a mixture of both zombie grunts, monster’s howls and gunfire.  Now as the game is a hybrid of a tower defense, horde games goes the standard sound effects that you would hear from the gunfire to monsters and such.  The game does not have much spoken dialog so there is no fowl language to hear, again as the game has a M rating the sound in the game is very mild in its nature.  The game does support 5.1 surround sound so for those that have surround sounds you should be fine, however those that do not the game sounds great in 2.0 or even a headset.  The Controls for YAZD HD are designed to be twin stick in its nature.  The left thumb stick is to move the character and the right one is to aim and shoot.  There is a button to use grenades and also to switch your weapons.  During the daytime in the game you can use the menu to purchase any defenses from barriers, turrets, guns, ammo and other items to help defend your area.  YAZD HD controls are designed to be easy to pick up and play.  In our playtesting we did not run into any issues with the game controls and everyone that tested the game did not have any issues with the controls of the game.  As the game does not need any special type of controller, you should be ok using the standard controller on the console and a gaming controller on the PC.

“Fight, build, and then fight again, even though this is an old process in gaming however it works in YAZD HD and with friends this becomes a great party game!”

Family Friendly

One of the things that we were speaking about in the office was that does this game really deserve a M rating? After all this is a game in which there is red blood that comes from the zombies and monsters, but again that is expected in a game like this, but it is not done in a way in which where it would deserve a M rating? If anything the game should have been rated T – For Teen, however we strongly recommend for you to play the game and come to your own conclusion.  Of the fun things about YAZD HD is that the game offers both online and local co-op.  This allows lots of teamwork and strategy to be worked to survive.  Now with the game being rated M this may not be the best choice for parents and children to play, however if your gaming family has a lot of teens or even young adults, this game becomes a great game for parties or even gaming night. Also this is a great game to have in your digital library for those that love to play co-op games.  The only complaint that we had is that we wish that there were more level backgrounds but this was a minor one.  In our special needs game testing we did not encounter any issues with the games graphics, sound, control or anything else.  If anything our older special needs gamers loved the fact that this can be played 4 players locally that allows people to play as a team on one console.  We can’t say this enough, this is a great party game for gamers that love co-op.

Closing
