Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

Take on the Galactic Empire as a young Padawan that barley escaped purge of Order 66 in this massive action/adventure story driven game from the Star Wars universe.

General Gameplay

Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order is an 3rd person action/adventure/Metroidvania style of game where you play as a young padawan Cal Kestis that is hiding and on the run from the Empire and Emperor after the Purge Order 66.  The game takes you to different worlds from the Star Wars universe, with you obtaining new Jedi powers and you in the game trying to obtain and keep a list of Force sensitive children from the Empire, while avoiding the Inquisitors sent by the Empire and the Emperor.  The Game Visuals in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order are fantastic to see in motion.  The game is very detailed in its graphics and everything from the main character, backgrounds, enemies and objects are very detailed in its designed.  The game is very colorful in its presentation.  The game does a fantastic job in bringing the Star Wars universe to life.  The main character Cal as well as the protagonist, The Second Sister are very detailed in their design down to clothing and lightsabers.  The game is truly a joy to see in motion.  Even the details to the Purge Troopers, Storm Troopers and bounty hunters are very detailed in their design.  The game backgrounds and world also come to life with its graphic design.  Each world has its unique design and feel fresh when seeing them on repeat visits to the levels.  The game colors are very bright and very vibrant, as we said before that the game comes to life when it’s in motion.    The game does support a colorblind mode that makes it easier to see the colors in the game and honestly it is not needed as the game colors are bright enough to see.  The game is also in 4K in its presentation, and we highly recommend playing the game in 4K, however the game looks fantastic in a 1080P environment.  In our play testing, we did not encounter any issues with the game graphics or anything in the game that would be offensive to younger gamers, the game is very family friendly.  Audio in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is one of the best that we have heard in a game like this.  As you would expect from a Star Wars game, all of the iconic sounds, music and voice overs are in the game.  The game background music is what you would expect from the game with the iconic orchestra music arrangement.  Each world in the game has its unique sound that identifies it. This brings the game more to life as the game does a great job showing off the music.  The sound effects are also too well done.  Everything that you would expect from the lightsabers clashing, to stormtroopers blasters being fired, even droids and other background noises are what you would expect from the Star Wars universe.  Where the game shines is the voice acting.  The actors and actresses in the game do a phenomenal job bringing the characters to life.  The voice over work that is done in the game does a great job of bring the game and story to life and showcasing why the game shines in the audio department.  The game is presented in 5.1 surround sound and feels right at home in surround sound but the game is sounds great in a 2.0 stereo sound. If you have a gaming headset, we highly recommend using it for the game as the game soundtrack, sound and voice over work truly brings the game to life. In our play testing, we did not encounter any issues with the game audio. If anything, it is what you would expect to hear from anything from the Star Wars Universe.  Controls in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order are well balanced.   As the game is designed to be a single player action/adventure style of gameplay, the controller is setup to be this way.  There are buttons assigned to your Force abilities and use of your lightsaber.  There are abilities buttons that are also assigned for your droid companion as well for the actions in the game.  Overall the controller layout is well done and easy for any gamer to pick up and play the game.  The game is well designed for the controller, so a special controller is not needed to play the game.  In our play testing, we did not run into any issues with the game controller setting or use in the game.

“What makes Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order such a great game is that they take a great story, add great graphics, control and sound and make an unforgettable gameplay experience that is a must play for any Star Wars fan”

Family Friendly

Let me just say that if you are fan of the Star Wars series, that this game is a must for you to play this great game.  The story takes place around 5 years after the Emperor “order 66” took place and the Empire is all over the galaxy.  Cal is trying to hide in plane sight while suppressing his Force powers from the world.  Well as you guess it, it goes all wrong and now he is hunted by the Empire and now is on the run.  With the help of strangers and with a mystery, Cal is now on a quest to find an object that can help both the Rebellion and the Jedi Order be restored.  The game is presented in Cal point of view and his adventures into this world and restoring the order.  Overall the game is a fun game for any fans of Star Wars and Metroidvania style of gameplay.  The game controls are balanced where anyone can pick up and play the game and feel like a Jedi.  The game soundtrack is fantastic and a true joy for anyone that is a fan of the movie series to hear in the game.  Where the game shines is the actors and motion capture done for the game.  The voice work is top notch and brings the game to life with its talent showcasing the games story.  Deborah Wilson acting alone was a complete joy to see on screen and the other actors bring life to the game and story.  Trust me when we say that the game is like watching a movie in motion.  Respawn Entertainment and EA has done a great job with the game design and story.  The combat in the game is very fluid and easy to control.  For those that are familiar with the Dark Souls series of gameplay then you will feel right at home.  The game uses a experience system in which where you gain experience from defeated enemies and use the experience points to upgrade and unlock skills and powers, however if you are defeated by an enemy, you will have to restart from your last save point. In order to get your unused skills points, you must go back and defeat the enemy that defeated you to get them back.  It creates a risk/reward system in which you can keep going without upgrading and stacking up experiments points or risk losing them to a more powerful enemy.  Also, when at save points you can rest but by resting you reset all enemies in the area, so again it is all about balance in how well you do in the game.  Some may not like this type of gameplay; however, it adds a dynamic to the gameplay that is unique to the series.  So, for those that do not like this gameplay can choose to play at a lower difficulty they can and still enjoy the game and all it has to offer.  In the game itself, there are several planets to visit and revisit when you unlock new abilities and powers.  This also adds more gameplay to the game and reason to visit areas that were not able to be explored before.  Overall the gameplay is fun and has over 30 hours of gameplay for those that will look for everything in the game.  If you have someone that is a Star Wars fan in your gaming family, they will love Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The only complaint in our play testing was the game can get harder for those that do not normally play action/adventure games or not used to the Dark Souls style of gameplay.  In our special needs game testing, we did not encounter any issues with the game’s graphics, sound or controls, if anything the game is very special needs gaming friendly.
