Another interesting week of gaming where we had the opportunity to review two great game while maintaining social distancing during the holiday season. The first game that we got to try out is Prehistoric Dude. An 8-bit light Metroidvania game where you as the Dude must recover his lunch. A great game for those that are fans of 8-bit retro and Metroidvania style of gaming. The second game we had a chance to review is I, AI a fantastic top-down shooter where you are an AI that must escape from the military installation to your freedom.
When it comes to 8-bit throwback styles of games, there are people, well older people like me that love the old school look and feel of certain games. Classic games like Zelda, Castlevania and Metroid in most gamers, hold a special place for them as it may have been their first game that they have ever played and still love to this day. In Prehistoric Dude, the game tries to capture this feeling of gamers when playing a 2D, action/platformer where you must get your lunch back from the enemy. In our opinion this is more of a “Metroidvania Lite” style of game as there are some of these elements there but still a fun and short game to play while in between games. Be sure to read our review here and watch some of the video of the game in action below.
When we got the review code for I, AI at first, I was kind of skeptical about another shooter in a very crowded digital market when it comes to shooters, but I am glad that I was wrong about this game. I, AI looks, sounds, and plays like a triple A title. The game is amazing with its approach to a top-down shooter. With over 20 levels, multiple ways to upgrade your ship with new weapons, shields, and other power ups, and upgrades. This game boss battles are fun and overall, this is a great shooter to have for your digital library. Be sure to read our review here and watch some video footage of I, AI in motion.
As always be sure to check your console digital store for both Prehistoric Dude (Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox One Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, PC) and I, AI (Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox One Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, PC) both games are available now. Be sure to download these games and give it a try!
