A Zombie with a brain? Yes but a great puzzle game that sits beneath this game as well.
General Gameplay
The general gameplay is this, you are a zombie, and your job is to beat the level in the fastest time and move on. Also the catch is that you can turn other people in the game into zombies to help you reach this goal.
Audio
As with any game of this caliber you get your zombie grunts, gun shots, and people screaming. It fits the game and the game mood as you go along in the game. For families there is no issues for sounds in the game that would not be appropriate for any family member. Also being an arcade game, there is no surround sound in the game, but the game sounds great through the system.
Visuals
As with any puzzle game, the graphics are simple and to the point. The game in its core is a puzzle game so the graphics are well done to illustrate the game. With having easy graphics to be able to see, the game is easier to play. As this game is made to be played on a smaller screen, it does a great job on larger screens. For parents, the game is very family friendly without any extra blood or violence that would too much for parts of our gaming family.
Controls
With it being a puzzle game, the controls are very easy to use. A controller stick to move your character and three buttons to command your zombie. The commands are there to help you set up the extra zombies so you can reach your goals in the game. As you progress in the game you will get to levels in which you do not want the zombies to follow you or even attach, and this was a great choice for the developers to have this as it adds more though thinking to the game core mechanics. Also with our controller we did not see any problems for anyone in your gaming family to play this. From young to old and our special needs gamers had no issues playing the game.
Delivery
If you are in the market for a puzzle game, then I, Zombie will be a good game to fill that puzzle itch. However as this is a more of a “go there, do this, then go get that” type of puzzle game and after a while you will feel that the game is getting more repetitive in that sense. However if you think about it, most puzzle games in nature are like this so you can think of it as another run of the mill puzzle game, but with a zombie. That being said, we had fun playing the game and it also in later levels does provide a challenge but nothing that is frustrating or game breaking. In our family play through everyone that played the game had a great time. Also for the console it is at a low price so even if you do not like it, you are not investing much money into a game that may just collect dust.
Family Friendly
The game is a fun puzzle game to its core, it may not be deep as other puzzle games but it does get the job done. In our family gaming play through, everyone had a great time playing the game. If anything most of our gaming family had a blast playing this game. Also as the game looks like it belongs on a tablet or smartphone, our younger gamers even had more fun. The game may be rated T for Teen but we can assure that there is nothing that we have seen that would upset any young gamer. Also with testing the game for our special needs gamers in our family, we did not see anything that would prevent them from playing the game at all. Also seeing that the game itself is a puzzle game, this is a great parent/child duo game as you can play this game with your child or someone else and help the get through the puzzles.
Closing
I, Zombie is a great fun puzzle game that can be easily be played by the whole family and there enough puzzles in the game to keep you busy. A good game for the price and to have in your digital library.
