General Gameplay
Gun Crazy is a 2D side scroller shooter where you as a police force must take on enemies and boss battles. The game consists of both obtaining temporary power ups for your weapon and a melee attack if any enemy gets to close. The Game Visuals for Gun Crazy are created in an old school 16-bit style graphics. The game has a very retro look and feel with all the game in this style. The colors are very bright and vibrant, and all the characters, enemies and background in the game is quite easy to see on the screen. Gun Crazy does not have a colorblind mode; however, it is not needed as the game colors are bright enough to see in the game. In our play testing we did not see anything that would be offensive to younger gamers, as the game is very family friendly. Audio in the game is also in its 16-bit style. From Midi drifts of rock style of music to enemies’ weapons fire and your characters own weapon can be heard without any problems. The game is in 5.1 surround sound as well in 2.0 stereo sound. Either audio format that you play the game is fine. The only spoken type of dialog is the defeated scream from your character when defeated. In our play testing we did not hear anything offensive in the audio of Gun Crazy. Controls in Gun Crazy are extremely easy to use. As the game is a side scroller shooter, the game controller settings are design around this type of gameplay. The left thumb stick controls the character, there are buttons for the character to jump, dash and use her weapon. The controller settings are very pick up and play for veterans to new gamers to play Gun Crazy. In our play testing we did not have any issues with the controller or the settings as they are very gaming friendly. As the game is on the console, Gun Crazy does not need a special controller to play the game and the standard controller is fine to use for the game.

What makes Gun Crazy a fun game is that is all about running and gunning and hitting enemies when they get too close. From the start of the game it is all about going from one level to another running and gunning enemies, getting power ups to help you, and fighting bosses. Now this is a fun game for those that loves fast pace shooter or even those in your gaming family. The game is extremely easy to pick up and play and control from the start. As the game is more like an arcade style of game, it is all about how far you can get. There are no continues to speak of but the game is all about pure skill. Now this may not be a game that all in your gaming family will play but if you are looking for a fun, easy game to play then Gun Crazy is a good game to pick up for your digital library. Now for those in our gaming testing, some things that at times that action can get a little chaotic on the screen, and that also as the game can get a little repetitive, but these were small complaints and do not affect gameplay. Overall Gun Crazy is for people that love side scroller shooters. Some veteran gamers may fine the gameplay elementary to their taste but if you are in the market for an inexpensive shooter then Gun Crazy may be the game for your digital library. In our special needs game testing, we did not find any issues with the game graphics, audio or even controls. If anything, the game was special needs gaming friendly.
