As part of DeTeam you must embark onto a space station and destroy everything on the station as it is affected by a virus. Deep Space Rush is an old school 8-bit style of scroller shooter.
General Gameplay
Deep Space Rush is a 2D side scroller shooter where you must destroy everything from aliens, to enemies that have taken over the space station. Take the on using your weapons and power ups that you pick up on the way. The Game Visuals for Deep Space Rush are designed in a 8-bit style. The graphics are 2D in design with 8-bit style of characters, backgrounds and design. Everything from the design of the main character to the enemies and background have a retro design and feel to them. The game is colorful with using basic colors in the game. Deep Space Rush does not have a colorblind mode, however it is not needed for the game as the game colors and graphics are very easy to see both on a large and small screen. In our play testing, we did not see anything offensive for younger gamers to see in the game. Audio in Deep Space Rush is presented in a 8-bit style as well. The game sounds like a 8-bit game from the background music, to sound effects, gun blast, and even the enemies sounds. The menu also is in a 8-bit style of music. If anything, the game is a throwback of playing an 8-bit game. The game is presented in 2.0 stereo sound and sounds great. In our play testing we did not encounter any issues of the game sounds, sound effects, or even music in the game. Controls in Deep Space Rush are very easy to play and control. With the left thumb stick to control the character and a face button to use for your weapon and jump. The game is simple in its control and design. In our play testing, there were no issues with the game controls and controller setting. The game was very easy to control and play the game. As the game uses the default controller, there is no need to use a special controller to play the game. The default controller is fine to use for the game.
“A simple and fun game where you just go onto a space station and just shoot enemies till you have enough cash to upgrade your guns and keep going.”
Family Friendly
One of the great features of the game is that each game is different by having randomly generated levels, so as you play through the game that you will have a different experience. Sometimes this can be a good thing or bad thing depending on the level of the game and how far advance you are in playing the game. One of the other things that makes Deep Space Rush a fun game is that its simple approach to gaming. Jump onto the ship, shoot enemies and survive if you can. Use the tokens earned to upgrade your health, weapons and power ups. As you can see from pictures and video that this is a simple game but still fun to play. We had a great time playing this game and as the game is never ending it is all about trying to survive if you can in the game. This makes this game a great challenge game for anyone in your gaming family to see who can last the longest in the game. Outside of this, once you upgrade your weapons and special abilities, there is nothing else to do in the game. The only complaint that we had with this game was that the limitation on what you can do with the game. Outside of shoot, survive and repeat, there was no boss battles, co-op mode or even different shops to visit. We understand that this is a throwback of playing a 8-bit game but the developers had some wiggle room to add more. Maybe in a future sequel to the game may add these new features. In our special needs game testing of Deep Space Rush, we did not encounter any issues with the game’s graphics, audio or controller settings. Deep Space Rush is a very family friendly and special needs gaming friendly for the whole family and all ages.
