Concept Destruction

Concept Destruction is all about driving cardboard cutouts of cars in an enclosed environment and destroying them in a demolition derby style of driving.

General Gameplay

Take the fun of destruction derby style of racing and place cardboard box style of cars onto a tabletop track and let the destruction begin.  The Game Visuals are very colorful and easy to see.  All the visuals of the cars, inside of the cardboard car’s cutouts, to other cars, and backgrounds are surprisingly in detail.  The colors are bright and easy to see on the screen.  The Concept Destruction does not support a color-blind mode and it is not needed as the game’s colors are easy to see.  In our play testing, we did not encounter any issues with the game graphics as they are very family friendly. Audio in Concept Destruction is remarkably simple but to the point. You hear the normal sounds like the revving of the car engine, crashes of the cars and streaking of the tires.  The game has a midi style heavy metal soundtrack that goes well with the game and the action on the screen.  The game is in 5.1 surround sound and in 2.0 stereo sound.  The game sounds well in either sound settings but for those that are fans of heavy metal soundtracks may want to game with a gaming headset.  In our play testing, we did not run into any issues with the game audio as it was very family friendly.  Controls in Concept Destruction are quite easy to play.  The left and right triggers are used to accelerate and brake the car, where the face buttons are use for a boost and e-brake.  The left thumb stick is used to move the car around and the right thumb stick is to look around.  The controls are designed as a driving game, so it is common to see a controller setup like this.  The game is very user friendly and easy to pick up and play for any type of gamer.  We found that the controller settings are amazingly easy to use and responsive for the action on the screen.  In our play testing we did not have any issues with the controller or the controller setting for Concept Destruction.  The game uses the standard controller and there is no need for a special controller or racing wheel to be used for the game.

“A simple and fun destruction derby game that is a true joy to play.  Any fans of the Twisted Metal series or other destruction derby games will love this game. Also, local split screen play is a blast to play with another.”

Family Friendly

If you or anyone in your gaming family are fans of destruction derbies games like Twisted Metal or other types, then Concept Destruction is the perfect game for your gaming family.  The gameplay is amazingly simple to pick up and play and gameplay is all about wrecking the other cars while trying to survive.  There are a lot of cars to choose from as well as colors for the car.  Different levels keep the gameplay interesting and the soundtrack for the game fits well for the gameplay style.  There is a single player, championship mode, survival, and tourist mode where you can just drive around the levels and get to know them better.   These modes add different variation to the game and for those that want to earn more credits (to unlock more cars) you can play the championship mode, for those that just want to get their fix you can play the single player mode, and for those that want to be you vs everyone else the survival mode is great for that fix.  This is a fun game for those that love games like this, however if you are not into racing or destruction derby games, you may find the gameplay a little elementary and too easy for your taste.  One of the complaints that we had during reviewing Concept Destruction was that the camera angles during gameplay can get a little messy and cause some switching around with your controller right thumb stick to get it right to see what is going on.  This was a minor issue and did not disrupt gameplay.  In our special needs game testing, we did not have any issues with the game visuals, audio or even controls, the game is very special needs gaming friendly.

Closing

Concept Destruction is a fun, easy, simple destruction derby game that is great for all ages.  Some more hardcore fans of racing may be put off by the graphics and gameplay but for casual gamers this is a great game for your digital library.
