Call of Duty – Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is a light reboot of the series. The series goes back to its roots with strong storytelling, solid gameplay, and overall great visual and sound experience. The game also has a long standing of followers that are engaged into both the multiplayer and Warzone experience. NOTE: in this review we will only cover the single player of the game and do a separate review of the multiplayer of the series.

General Gameplay
Anyone that knows the COD series knows that there are several parts of the game, both outstanding or disappointing depending on who you ask, but one thing that stays the same for most COD games, the single player. As most of the single player games are based on a strong story of conflict, you as the hero of the game must play through different campaigns to fight off enemies and work with the elements of the story. As the story progresses, you will deal with all the twists and turns that come with the storyline. This is where the writing for the story shines or can be very predictable. So, we will go over the standard things that we cover in the game visuals, audio, and controls in single player. The Game Visuals in Call of Duty – Modern Warfare 2 are very well done. As the game is about providing the best presentation both in game graphics and cut scenes. As the game runs at 4K 60FPS or 120FPS depending on your setup, the game looks and plays fantastic. Everything in the game from the general graphics, to weapons, backgrounds, and everything else in the game is in full detail and easy to see. Call of Duty – Modern Warfare 2 cutscenes are done with a grade A feel where it’s like watching a streaming service show with its level of detail. Believe us, when you see the cutscenes its very lifelike and easy to see and understand what is going on in the game. The gambit of colors in the game are also very easy to see and tell what what in the game is. For those that have a type of color blindness, you can easily in the menus option fix the colors in the menu option to be seen without any problems. Textures in the game are also done well where magazines being reloaded to explosions are done in detail. Character animations and textures are also done with detail. It is very easy to see the characters in the game, especially when the game battlefield gets hectic. As the game is rated M – For Mature, there is a lot of violence in the game. We recommend that gamers over the age of 15 should play the game. Audio in Call of Duty – Modern Warfare 2 is well done. The audio in the game is presented in Dolby Digital and Atmos for those that have a surround system that supports these types of audio decoders. All the sounds in the game are done very well and easy to hear during gameplay. From the gunshots to explosions and general background sounds are easy to hear and well done. The voice acting is also fantastic, and the all-star cast makes the game feel like a movie or tv show. The spoken dialog in the game is very fun to hear in the game and gives it a true feeling of being in the game and playing out the story. Everything in the game in the audio section is well done and easy for everyone to hear. In our play testing we did not encounter any issues with the audio outside of the language that is for a more mature audience that is playing the game. Controls in Call of Duty – Modern Warfare 2 also done very well for the game. As you would expect from any shooter in the 2000s there is the standard controller layout for a shooter, so for any shooter fans out there the controls stay the same for the most part. The movement, aiming, shooting, and overall general movement in the game is very fluid and easy to do. Call of Duty – Modern Warfare 2 in the game even tells you what to do in case you need some guidance in the game. The controller settings are very easy to change to suit your play style. In our play testing, the controller settings are fine to play the game as well for those that play with a keyboard and mouse setting are also well done.

Family Friendly
So as with all game from the COD series there are some highs and lows when it comes to the story. In our honest opinion the COD MW series stories are always the best but still as we said in our review sometimes predictable in the course of the story. For Call of Duty – Modern Warfare 2 the story was a great part of the game and series. As the game is a soft reboot of the original story from the original game this time around there are some changes to the story and characters that are involved in the story. With any soft reboot of a story there are some changes good or bad but in this case the changes are for the better. The missions and variations of each mission from leading a strike team to a location to gunning from a AC130 and everything in between. This brings a great dynamic for the story mode as well as the overall gameplay. The characters in the game are what bring the game to life. Each character and their role in the game is very entertaining to see in the game. The voice acting also shines in this game, with some all star acting, the voice overs feel like watching a triple A movie or a series like Homeland. As the COD series is all about the multiplayer, this is where we highly recommend for non multiplayers to pick up as the game story mode is top notch. As this review is about the single player and not the multiplayer this is a great game for those gamers in your gaming family to play. As this is also a mature rated game, please use caution on the age of your gamer to play the game. Overall Call of Duty – Modern Warfare 2 is a great game for those that love story driven games with lots of different styles of gameplay.
