Become a matchmaker and help find love for those that cannot find it in this funny and fun matchmaking game.
General Gameplay
In Kitty Powers’ Matchmaker it is all about you the gamer to become a matchmaker and set up people on dates with like minded people and help them throughout the date with the best topics of conversation. There is a lot of different minigames in the date process from matching the right choices to memory games to remember what the other date likes, dislikes and other things. Overall the game is about getting the date to go well, keeping the client happy and finding love for them. The Game Visuals are very bright and detailed in a cartoon style of presentation. In the game the characters, background, settings and objects are done in a cartoonish style where it is simple and fun to see. The game is very colorful with bright and easy to see colors and for those that suffer from a colorblindness they will not have any trouble seeing any of the game visuals. The game does a great job of making it very approachable for any gamer to play. In our playtesting we did not encounter any issues with the games graphics as it was very family friendly for all to play the game. Audio in Kitty Powers’ Matchmaker is very simple as well. Only Kitty Powers is the spoken dialog in the game and the characters are all talking in a “mumble” style to showcase how their conversations are going. The game has background music that accompanies the game style in the date and after date settings. The music is simple but fun and fits into the game style. The game is presented in a 5.1 surround sound and in 2.0 stereo setting as well, and both work fine for a game like this. While playing the game Kitty Powers will pop up and offer advice in the game on what to do next but there is no other spoken dialog. In our playtesting, we did not hear anything that would be offensive to any younger gamer’s ears. The game does not have any foul or offensive language and is very family friendly. Controls in the game are quite simple. As the game is all about making the right choices there is a style of “point and click” of making the right choice. On the controller the left thumb stick moves the pointer around and only one face button is used to make the choices. There are points in the game where other buttons are used to preform other actions, but it is not widely used outside of the basic controller settings. The game control design is made for any type of gamer to pick up and play the game. In our playtesting, we did not run into any issues with the game controls and it is very user friendly. The game can be played on the standard controller without any problems.
“Become a matchmaker and find love in this charming and fun game. The humor from Kitty Powers herself is worth playing the alone”
Family Friendly
To say that Kitty Powers’ Matchmaker is a unique game is an injustice to the game itself. The game is a charming game where you are a matchmaker and find love for clients of the agency. Now before you think that it is a game where you just find love, it is more than that. Within the game there is a lot of memory-based games from matching, to discovering what is different with the date to other mini games. This is what makes the game shine as the presentation of the mini games into the dating makes it more challenging as you don’t know what mini game will come up next. This keeps the gameplay fresh and interesting as you must be on your toes to make sure that you guess the correct answer to keep the date going. While testing the game here at the office, a lot of our testers really had fun with the game and how the gameplay was so easy to grasp and play throughout. The game is in nature a point and click but as dates and matchmaking in the game gets harder. The need of having a controller setting like this makes it easy for anyone to pick up and play the game. Overall the game is a lot of fun and has a lot of humor to it. This game can be very easily a stress-free game that you can go to when in between more stress inducing, rage filled games that you would play daily. The only complaint that we had was that we wished that there was more online play, however if they do create a sequel to this game it just may be. In our special needs game testing, we did not run into any issues with the Game Visuals, Audio or even the Controls, the game is very special needs gaming friendly and very much fun to play.
