Just Ignore Them

AS THE GAME IS RATED M – FOR MATURE.  WE ONLY REVIEW THE GAME WITH OUR GAMING STAFF THAT IS 17 AND OLDER.

As a boy named Mark who is locked into an unending circle of being chased by monsters since childhood, you must find out what these monsters have to do with him and his father’s disappearances in this point and click horror game.  The game is all about choices and how it will affect the outcome of the story.

General Gameplay

The game is a horror game in its nature and as you go through the game it is more of a point and click type of choices that are made within the game.  Game Visuals for Just Ignore Them are done in an 8-bit style reminiscent of the old Nintendo Entertainment System days of gaming.  The game graphics colors are very bright and easy to see on the screen.  Imagine the old school style of 8-bit RPG from the era and that is how the game is presented.  The game is pixelated, and it shows from everything from the main character to the backgrounds, objects and enemies.  As the game is more in 8-bit in its design, however it is easy to see.  There is no colorblind mode, however it is not needed for the game.  In our playtesting, outside of the blood that is shown in the game for the death of the character, there is nothing offensive in the game for gamers over the age of 14.  Audio in Just Ignore Them is very minimum.  There is some background music in the levels, but the game has a lot of sounds effects for items, objects and other actions that are done in the game.  As the game is a point and click, when you interact with something or the character in the game it will have a sound que to let you know what you are doing.  Also, there is some ambient sounds in certain levels and times in the game, however overall there is minimum about of audio in the game.  The game is done is 5.1 and 2.0 stereo surround sound settings and sounds fine in both.  In our playtesting, we did not encounter anything that would be offensive to younger gamers to hear, again as the game is rated M – For Mature, we did not test the game with any gamers under the age of 17.  Controls for Just Ignore Them are very simple.  The game is a point and click, so using the left thumb stick to move the cursor and a face button to interact with objects.  The game also has an inventory where you can interact with objects that you pick up in the game.  The controller setting is very simple and easy to use for any gamer.  In our playtesting, we did not encounter any issues with the game controller settings.  Also, the game does not need a special controller, so using a standard controller to play the game is fine for any console gamers.

“A decent story with some jump scares makes Just Ignore Them a fun game, short but still fun for any horror fans out there.”

Family Friendly

As any horror base games goes, it is all about how the story is told.  Who are the characters, what kind of scenario are they placed in that makes the story develops into more and tells this tale of horror?  In Just Ignored Them, the story does do a great job of creating this.  The game has a nostalgic sense of its design like an 8-bit style of game from the original NES days like Dragon Warrior or even Zelda with the top down style of viewing the game.  One of the things that made the game a little difficult for some of our gamers is the lack of hand holding.  The game does not give you a sense of what to do next in the game as it is all about exploration and experimenting with what you find in items, and clues.  Now some gamers may like to have to be told where to go next in the game, however the exploration is what makes the game fun, so if you have gamers in your gaming family that want to be told where to go next, this may not be the game for them.  Overall anyone in your gaming family that loves investigation horror games will love Just Ignore Them.  The only complaint that we have had for the game is that it is short, 3-5 hours long in gameplay.  Now as the game is rated M – For Mature, we did see some violence and language within the text of the game that would warrant the M – For Mature rating.  The best advice is that watch the video of gameplay and judge for yourself if the game is best for your gaming family.  In our special needs game testing, we did not encounter any issues with the game visuals, audio or controls.  The game is very special needs gaming friendly.  Overall if you are looking for a horror, mystery game then Just Ignore Them is the perfect game for you.

Closing

Just ignore Them is a great but short horror story that will have you guessing why till the end of the game.  More for the mature crowd but still a great 3-5 hour game for those that love point and click style games like this.
